About The Position

As the QC Supervisor, you are responsible for the consistent delivery of high-quality products and services to our customers. This role oversees product inspections and QC technicians to ensure compliance with company standards and customer specifications. The position translates customer quality concerns into internal corrective actions and drives continual improvement, focusing on minimizing defects through prevention rather than detection. Key responsibilities include site calibrations, nonconformance documentation, performing manufacturing audits, document control, hosting site management reviews, and tracking the Cost of Poor Quality (CoPQ).

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 4 years manufacturing experience in a Quality role required.
  • Precast and/or ready-mix experience required.
  • ACI Field, Strength & Aggregate certifications.
  • NPCA Level II certification.
  • PCI Level I and II certification.
  • Knowledgeable in applicable Quality standards (i.e. ISO9001, AISC, and/or PCI).
  • Knowledgeable in use of various inspection gages and practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret ASTM standards where applicable.
  • Ability to read drawings and prints.
  • Ability to understand DOT / Code requirements where applicable.
  • Ability to identify nonconforming product conditions and exercise stop work authority.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment involving heavy machinery and equipment.
  • Ability to exert up to 40 pounds of force occasionally, up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Proficiency in mathematics.
  • Good visual acuity.
  • Ability to speak and present to all levels of the organization and in front of groups.
  • A focus on problem solving and teamwork.
  • Computer Skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Ability to collaborate actions with multiple departments.
  • Ability to manage change and recognize impacts of change within multiple departments.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises quality control staff.
  • Schedules and oversees incoming, in-process, and finished goods inspections to specified criteria and test methods.
  • Clearly communicates nonconforming product / out of tolerance conditions to team members and supervisors.
  • Collaboratively determines NCM causes and possible actions with production and/or quality teams.
  • Ensures rejection of product when requirements are not met.
  • Maintains quality records and supports management in maintaining quality certifications.
  • Monitors the proper labeling, segregation, and disposition of non-conforming / hold material.
  • Manages calibration programs for inspection equipment.
  • Performs, oversees, and documents manufacturing audits in the production areas.
  • Manages the document control program, including uploading and maintaining documents.
  • Represents L.B. Foster during site audits and documents the outcomes.
  • Works with the site management team and applicable personnel to investigate findings and determine corrective actions in a timely manner.
  • Handles customer complaints through proper documentation, investigations, and leading corrective actions.
  • Tracks site CoPQs.
  • Schedules and holds site Management Reviews.
  • Reviews and understands customer specification/code requirements.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
