About The Position

The QC Color Specialist is responsible for the measurement, evaluation, and documentation of color attributes in raw materials, in-process samples, and finished goods to ensure products consistently meet established color specifications. Additionally, the Color Specialist will lead the investigation and disposition of out-of-specification (OOS) results, drives root cause analysis, and implements corrective and preventive actions (CAPA). Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Food Science, Analytical Chemistry, or a closely related field required
  • Minimum 2–4 years of experience in a QC or analytical laboratory role, preferably in a food, beverage, or consumer products manufacturing environment
  • Hands-on experience with color measurement instrumentation required
  • Demonstrated experience performing and leading OOS investigations, including formal root cause analysis and CAPA development
  • Proven experience with customer-facing quality functions, including COA review and approval, specification management, and direct customer communication
  • Hands-on proficiency with analytical instrumentation

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with LIMS platforms and statistical quality control (SPC/SQC) tools preferred

Responsibilities

  • Conduct visual color evaluations against approved standards under controlled lighting conditions
  • Evaluate raw material, in-process, and finished product samples against approved color specifications; accept, hold, or reject product as warranted
  • Maintain and calibrate color measurement instruments; document calibration records per SOP requirements
  • Investigate and document color deviations; initiate and participate in root cause analysis and corrective action (CAPA) processes
  • Collaborate with Production, R&D, and Customer care teams to communicate color quality concerns and support resolution
  • Review and update color-related SOPs, work instructions, and specification documents as needed
  • Support new product development by assisting with color specification development and reference standard creation
  • Maintain accurate and complete records in accordance with GMP, internal quality system, and regulatory requirements
  • Train new lab technicians on color evaluation methods and instrumentation use
