About The Position

This Logistics Specialist I position reports to the Domestic Logistics Manager and is a high-performance execution role within the logistics team, supporting supply chain and operations. The specialist will be accountable for the execution of inbound and/or outbound logistics, with a primary focus on organizing all customer orders and/or inbound purchase orders. The role requires building and maintaining strong relationships with customer care, customer's carriers, 3rd party logistics providers, freight clerks, operations, and purchasing.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • 3 + years’ experience in Shipping, Logistics & Transportation
  • Highly organized
  • Proven Interpersonal skills
  • Computer skills (database, spreadsheets, processing software) and Math skills
  • Self-motivated commitment to continuous improvement
  • Ability to excel within high-risk and fast paced work environment

Responsibilities

  • Builds & maintains positive relationships with logistics providers that bring defined value
  • Understands customer/vendor requirements and strives to meet them to differentiate ourselves from competition
  • Responsible for reviewing internal shipping report and deciding best way to ship customer orders
  • Independently organizing all customer collect shipments by working with customers and/or customers carriers
  • Identifies/reports challenges with collect shipments to Customer Service & Account Managers
  • Executing pickups with carriers, shipping and 3PL’s
  • Emailing shipping documents to carriers, 3PLs
  • Running consolidation reports to consolidate orders, same customers, different customers, but same delivery location to drive cost savings
  • Effectively communicates shipping information to freight clerks, Customer Service and logistics providers
  • Maintain outbound logistics schedule – entering pick up times on schedule
  • Identify challenges and create solutions to improve day to day operations
  • Make decisions on the most cost efficient transportation service while maintaining high level of service
  • Understands the value of ADM owned transportation (i.e. trucks)
  • Develops a clear understanding and working knowledge of ADM information technology systems
  • Understands and has strict adherence to corporate compliance policies & safety systems & programs
  • Ensures that individual goals are aligned with company goals
  • Works to attain positive, cooperative relationships with internal colleagues across divisions & responsibilities
  • Portrays a positive image of the company and self when interacting with logistics providers
  • Prepares and submits daily & ad hoc reports
  • Is willing to work outside normal business hours including weekends, work remotely
