About The Position

Manages, plans, and coordinates the Quality Control program to ensure products consistently meet customer specifications and expectations. This position focuses on quality control and quality gate processes designed to identify and prevent nonconforming materials from being released to customers. The role ensures effective inspection, testing, monitoring, and control processes are in place to maintain product quality and reliability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry preferred or equivalent working experience
  • Minimum of 10 years relevant experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Minimum of 5 years supervisory experience preferred (Quality preferred)
  • Working knowledge of IATF16949 and/or ISO9001 standards.

Nice To Haves

  • Comprehensive knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma and other process improvement methodologies
  • SAP experience

Responsibilities

  • Manages the day-to-day planning, activities, and operations of the Quality Control (QC) Department.
  • Oversees conformance to established specifications and procedures to ensure product quality and reliability through the promotion of standardization and appropriate inspection frequencies.
  • Maintains and reports product conformance to engineering and customer specifications through the inspection and testing of incoming raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods.
  • Continuously reviews and improves standard operating procedures and test methods to ensure accurate, reliable, and objective results that effectively predict paint performance.
  • Investigates out-of-specification laboratory results and determines appropriate corrective and preventive actions. Reviews and approves final investigation reports.
  • Ensures the continuous operation, qualification, calibration, and validation of all QC laboratory equipment and supports timely troubleshooting and resolution of discrepancies.
  • Ensures all QC test methods, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and related documentation are current, properly maintained, and consistently followed.
  • Ensures all test results are accurately documented, maintained, and readily available for review.
  • Maintains NPAA’s corrective action system for plant nonconforming materials (NCMs) and abnormal conditions. Facilitates monthly meetings and collaborates with appropriate cross-functional teams to ensure issues are adequately resolved in a timely manner, and actions are implemented to prevent recurrence.
  • Owns and maintains communication regarding customer color requirements and material color positioning between Operations and Field Technical Services to reduce off-color issues and customer complaints.
  • Analyzes quality trends related to raw materials, products, and processes to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and leads Kaizen activities, as appropriate.
  • Presents recommendations for quality and process improvements to senior management and collaborates with the Continuous Improvement team to implement sustainable solutions.
