About The Position

Responsible for leading the quality function to ensure products meet internal standards and customer/regulatory requirements. This role manages the Quality team, drives continuous improvement across manufacturing and inspection processes, and serves as the site subject-matter expert for CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) and VMM (Vision Measuring Machine) programming, operation, and measurement system capability.

Requirements

  • Master's degree or equivalent; or four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must know CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) and VMM (Vision Measuring Machine) programming, operation, and measurement system capability.
  • Read, analyze and interpret business, professional, technical or governmental documents.
  • Write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
  • Effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, customers, and the public in a knowledgeable way that reflects positively on the company. Also be effective in presenting goals to employees and coworkers daily.
  • Must be able to conduct all types of mathematical problems including the ability to calculate sample rates, defect percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Understanding machining principles, angles, cosine, drill points.
  • Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Must have ability to visualize forward and backwards throughout the product process simultaneously.
  • Can make sound judgement when unknown outcome may occur.
  • Use historical information on topics to provide sound and logical opinion.
  • Strong computer related skills including familiarization with word processing software, spreadsheet, and database software.
  • MCOSMOS, MEASURLINK, SOLIDWORKS, CAT1000PS and 1Factory are used daily.
  • Strong working knowledge of GD&T (ASME Y14.5) and ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop Quality personnel (inspectors, CMM programmers/operators, technicians), including training plans and competency assessment.
  • Own and maintain the site inspection strategy, including first article inspection (FAI), in-process inspection, final inspection, and nonconforming material control.
  • Program, operate, and optimize CMM and VMM inspection routines; validate new programs and ensure robust fixturing, probing strategies, and repeatability.
  • Review engineering drawings/models and apply GD&T; translate requirements into effective inspection plans and CMM programs.
  • Establish and monitor measurement system performance, including MSA (Gage R&R), calibration, and uncertainty/traceability where applicable.
  • Drive root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA) for internal and customer issues; implement containment, corrective action verification, and effectiveness checks.
  • Plan and execute internal audits; support customer, regulatory, and third-party audits as required; ensure timely closure of findings.
  • Manage supplier quality activities (incoming inspection requirements, SCARs, supplier audits/scorecards) to reduce defects and improve on-time quality performance.
  • Analyze quality data (scrap, rework, CP/CPK, PPM, Pareto) and lead continuous improvement using Lean/Six Sigma or similar methods.
  • Maintain and improve quality documentation and systems (procedures, work instructions, control plans, inspection records) and ensure adherence across operations.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Engineering, Manufacturing, Production Planning, and Customer Service to support new product introduction (NPI), process changes, and capacity expansions.
  • Directly supervises employees in department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems; validating accuracy of labor hours and PTO.
