About The Position

The primary role of the Quality Control Lead is to work alongside production employees to identify, analyze and reduce graphics quality issues with a scope ranging from graphic submission through Quality Control. This role has the capability of not only assessing the physical product but diagnosing the graphics files to determine root cause. They are responsible for propagating a culture of continuous improvement at Moss by maintaining quality systems and standard processes focused on graphic production. They are expected to be the main contact on all graphic-related issues and have the authority to sign-off on graphics prior to shipping. The Quality Control Lead works with the Director of Quality and Continuous Improvement on developing and implementing manufacturing strategies and processes consistent with a best-in-class operation with a focus on improving quality. They are responsible for writing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Requirements

  • This position requires a natural drive to push projects to successful completion with a sense of urgency.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in graphic design, engineering, or related discipline is required.
  • Experience implementing and managing quality projects in a manufacturing environment is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to use Lean Principles such as Root Cause Analysis, Kaizen, Continuous Improvement Process, DMAIC, and 5S.
  • Proven experience organizing, writing, training, implementing, and auditing standard operating procedures.
  • Exceptional self-directed organizational skills.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing methods, procedures & quality measures.
  • Must have a good understanding of financial measurements
  • Basic OSHA or similar workplace safety knowledge required.
  • Adobe Illustrator and InDesign
  • Business level MS Operating System including Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a build-to-order or project centric production environment preferred.
  • Experience with new production line implementation and shop floor improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Inspection of graphics for any deviation from customer art or work order
  • Ensures root cause analysis is performed and preventative actions are implemented on issues arising from customer complaints or internal rework
  • Identify, lead, organize, and report on continuous improvement projects that remove waste, take out complexity, and simplify operations. Ensure projects are defined, measured, analyzed, improved, and controlled as result of the changes initiated.
  • Create cohesive, cross-functional teams that are willing and capable of taking operational excellence forward. Foster a culture of customer centeredness and continuous operational improvement.
  • Develop, implement, and audit standard operating procedures and work instructions that create a flexible and efficient operational model.
