About The Position

The Quality Control Inspector performs daily quality control of products to ensure standards and specifications are met. This role involves recognizing and reporting problems, managing defective units, and assisting with rework projects. The inspector will also learn all processes for all machine models and train subordinates. Responsibilities include participating in QC team meetings, preparing and conducting presentations for monthly QC meetings, and maintaining detailed logs through documentation, failure analysis, and root-cause analysis. The role requires utilizing computers for documentation and report generation, keeping management informed of RNC data for improvements, and performing routine maintenance on tools and equipment. The inspector must maintain an orderly and clean work area, manage time and resources efficiently, and comply with established procedures including Tool Calibration, RNC/NCR Process, Customer Complaint, First Article, Receiving Inspection, Miscellaneous Jobs Process, Corrective Action Report, Internal Audit and Auditor, New Product Approval, Product Inspections, In-Process Inspections, and Final Inspections. Additionally, the inspector may assist in creating work instructions, train subordinates on CMM testing and programming, provide customer service via phone, fax, and email, contribute to team efforts through flexible assignments, and maintain professional and technical knowledge. The role also involves acting on constructive feedback, improving processes, upholding work standards, understanding ISO9001 Quality Systems, developing and administering Reliability Information Systems, and supporting company policies and goals. Employees are required to speak only English during emergencies and while performing job duties where there is potential for an emergency. Non-field-related positions require in-office work 5 days a week at the assigned branch office.

Requirements

  • Six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be tactful, mature, flexible and able to successfully respond to multiple work tasks.
  • Knowledgeable in Basic Hand Tools.
  • Can Read and use Calipers, Micrometers and Tape Measure.
  • Able to read engineering drawings.
  • Must be able to use a computer and such applications as Microsoft Windows, Word and Excel.
  • Able to design custom reports as needed.
  • Familiar with the Metric System.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in written in English.
  • Ability to effectively respond to questions from Management, Staff, clients, and the general public in English.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, and percentages.
  • Ability to apply knowledge and sense of understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

  • Non-field-related positions require in-office work 5 days a week at the assigned branch office.
  • Lifting: Up to 50 pounds unassisted.

Nice To Haves

  • An associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school is a plus.
  • Understand and/or worked on CMM a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Performs daily quality control of products to ensure standards and specifications are met.
  • Recognizes and reports all problems to Manager.
  • Sends bad units to the repair area or departments.
  • Sends defective units to the rejected parts area.
  • Works with or advises team members on assigned rework projects.
  • Learns all processes for all machine models and trains subordinates.
  • Helps with Daily QC Team Meetings to discuss schedule progress, updates, essential information, assignments, and projects.
  • Helps with QC Monthly Meeting: Prepare QC presentation or conduct presentation.
  • Keeps detailed log by completing documentation as required.
  • Analyzes failures and processes root-cause analysis.
  • Closes RNC documentation when repair is complete.
  • Utilizes computers to document or access information as necessary.
  • Generates reports on common problems or trends.
  • Submits reports to Supervisor or Management, upon request or when necessary.
  • Keeps QC management informed by analyzing RNC data to make improvements.
  • Maintains equipment by performing routine maintenance duty for tools and equipment.
  • Regularly performs quality and safety checks.
  • Ensures work area is orderly and clean.
  • Reports problems immediately to Management verbally or in writing.
  • Manages time and resources by using company resources efficiently to maximize productivity and accomplish tasks on time.
  • Complies with established procedures by learning and following all policies and procedures of the department.
  • Helps with making work instructions where needed for job ease or for training future employees.
  • Learns and trains subordinates CMM testing and programming.
  • Provides effective customer service by exchanging information through telephone, fax and e-mail in a professional manner.
  • Contributes to the Team effort by being flexible in work assignments.
  • Covers for other Staff as needed.
  • Accomplishes related tasks when reasonably requested.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attaining job-related certification.
