About The Position

This position is an individual contributor role requiring ACI certification, and individual must have the ability to follow our guidelines per the QC manual and by DOT, ACI and ASM standards. Individual must be able to demonstrate the ability to inspect all finished concrete poles per the engineered drawing; Break Cylinders; ACI Concrete Field Test; Enter Quality Data; Layout Molds; Final Inspections; Slump Testing; CMEC Training; Running Concrete Trials; End-of-Year Inventory; ACI Concrete Strength test; Check Boring Details; Obtain a Dot certification for DOT products and be able to demonstrates the willingness to cross-train in other areas and articulate the engineered drawing and pipe sheet proficiently to others.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must be a Certified Welding Inspector
  • 2 plus years’ previous Quality Control experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment
  • Ability to articulate well to lead out in front of others
  • Possess working knowledge of welding processes, certification codes and standards, blueprint reading and shop math.
  • Able to multiply, divide, add and subtract proficiently
  • Must have sufficient mathematical skills to be able to use both decimals and fractions, converting both ways
  • Ability to use both imperial and metric measuring systems
  • Able to use tape measures, micrometers, dial indicators, radius gauges and PI tapes along with other basic shop tools
  • Must be able to read and write legibly and must have computer literacy
  • Ability to work overtime as required to meet business needs
  • The ability to safely lift up to 20 pounds frequently throughout the shift
  • Passion and integrity with the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results
  • The ability to communicate and interact with coworkers in a positive manner
  • Must have a high awareness for safety at all times

  • Must be able to run printer, CRT and Data-Myte.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect product for compliance with ASTM 123
  • Must be able to build complete pole; breakout cylinders; unit; weight testing; able to cover for Leads
  • Able to measure dimensions of products to verify conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as rulers, calipers, gauges, or micrometers.
  • Inspect Product in accordance with Valmont WI-10.16
  • Willing to conduct Toolbox Talks and be able to cover morning meetings
  • Responsible for inspecting, testing, concrete sampling, moisture testing , conduct cosmetics work/profiling or measuring materials, products, installations, or work for conformance to specifications.
  • Must be able to train new QC Inspectors
  • Actively identify and reduces waste within responsible department - demonstrated via Gemba tracking.
  • Inspect product to assure compliance with any customer specific requirements
  • Photograph specific loads per customer and Valmont criteria
  • Complete required inspection documentation.
  • Leads 5S and Gemba board discussions; train others; ACI Aggregate Level 1; Make Boring Details; ACI Certified
  • Must be able to verify strand elongation per the engineered specifications on each pole
  • Able to perform a wall thickness profile per SOP specification along with a layout in a mold per engineered drawings
  • Will constantly be making decisions as to whether the poles is of the required quality to meet in-house or customer specifications. These decisions, as a standard practice, will include acceptability of weld quality, length, ovality, straightness, and overall appearance.
