Description Primary Duties & Responsibilities Inspection of Manufactured Laser Systems Perform detailed inspections of electronic and mechanical assemblies with strong attention to detail. Apply standard inspection methods to evaluate compliance with critical design requirements. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to develop and refine inspection procedures. Participate in problem‑solving activities to address and resolve identified nonconformities. Evaluation and Verification of Purchased Components Execute incoming material test plans to support qualification and acceptance activities. Provide support to swing‑shift operations by ensuring continuity and availability of inspected materials. Document inspection findings and communicate results clearly to key stakeholders. Verify accuracy and completeness of vendor-supplied documentation, including first article inspections and material certifications. Quality Systems Support Record detailed inspection findings to drive Continuous Improvement initiatives. Conduct root‑cause analyses and recommend corrective actions with appropriate follow-up. Ensure inspection practices align with established procedures, best practices, and advanced inspection techniques. Assist in developing new methods and protocols for component-level testing and measurement. Perform calibration activities for monitoring and measuring equipment. Education & Experience High School Diploma or GED required. Strong verbal and written communication skills with fluency in English. Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience. Preferred Qualifications Experience performing layout inspections with strong knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T). Familiarity with automating inspection and test methods. Ability to centralize, organize, and interpret data for analysis. Hands-on experience with test and measurement of electronic and/or optical systems. Continuous improvement mindset with a focus on enhancing products and processes. Strong organizational skills and familiarity with 6S methodology. Proven problem‑solving abilities supported by practical, hands-on experience. Knowledge of electronic component manufacturing processes. Self‑motivated with a commitment to thorough documentation of data and test results. Working Conditions Manufacturing working environment. Some areas under cleanroom protocol. This is an on-site position in our Bloomfield, CT facility. Physical Requirements Must be able to move around manufacturing floor Must be able to lift a maximum of 30 pounds on occasion Safety Requirements All employees are required to follow the site EHS procedures and Coherent Corp.
