About The Position

Perform various prescribed duties to inspect and verify machined parts against engineering drawings and tolerances. This role involves adhering to ISO procedures and standards, maintaining documentation, and utilizing total quality concepts for continuous improvement. The inspector will work from procedures, work orders, and instructions, documenting processes, administering inspection methods, and managing workload to meet production schedules. Coordination with production and engineering departments is essential, along with immediate reporting of quality or safety issues. A positive team working atmosphere is expected.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) call outs.
  • Strong knowledge of GD&T per ASME Y14.5.
  • Proficient in using Micrometers, Calipers, Height Gages, and Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM).
  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED); or two to five years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2 - 5 years minimum experience in quality control inspection of manufactured metal products.
  • Ability to read and comprehend blueprints / design drawings to extract dimensional data to be checked against.
  • Knowledge of GD&T symbols.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions in English, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Nice To Haves

  • Bridge type of CMM experience is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain all reports, certificates, and documentation pertaining to inspection as per ISO procedure and standards.
  • Observe all company policies and regulations including safety, housekeeping, and quality of work.
  • Utilize total quality concepts, tools, and techniques to support continuous quality improvement.
  • Document inspection process and prepare reports as required.
  • Administer all inspection methods and procedures.
  • Manage workload to achieve production schedules and ensure completion within time frame.
  • Coordinate with production and engineering departments for internal and external customers.
  • Report any change in quality or unsafe operating conditions immediately to his/her supervisor.
  • Perform other duties as requested or necessary to meet business conditions and changes.
  • Support, encourage, and maintain a positive team working atmosphere throughout the company.
  • Maintain control and traceability related to inspection.
