About The Position

Performs product quality control functions during inbound and outbound shipping; monitors warehouse conditions; inspects product to ensure quality control standards are met. Brookshire Grocery Company (BGC) is seeking a Quality Control Inspector to join their team. Requirements

  • High school Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 18 years of age required.
  • One or more years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of experience and/or higher education required.
  • Intermediate knowledge of produce.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Access, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Ability to learn regulations and guidelines pertaining to product quality control.
  • Ability to comprehend and interpret information.
  • Ability to research information, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to learn new technology systems, methods and processes.
  • Ability to reason, form concepts and recognize and solve problems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal form.
  • Ability to use knives/box cutters and other measurement tools.

Responsibilities

  • Performs inspections to measure product quality in order to ensure product received and shipped from warehouses meets Company and regulatory requirements. Rejects unsafe and poor-quality product as needed.
  • Checks vaults on a daily basis to assess and maintain product quality and temperature.
  • Performs inspections for weight and temperature along with overall specifications according to BGC and regulatory guidelines. Records and reports findings to management.
  • Communicates product issues to category management partners in order to keep them informed on quality of products.
  • Looks for quality improvement opportunities and provides recommendations to management.
  • Ensures product temperature levels are closely monitored for high-risk and high-priority items. Retrieves temperature recording devices and maintains accurate data logs.
  • Checks Universal Product Codes (UPC), Price Look-Up (PLU) codes, country of origin labeling, and expiration dates.
  • Applies knowledge of quality assurance techniques and processes to assist with product disposition.
  • Performs and monitors the produce ripening process as needed.
  • Must be attentive to potential hazards and remedy or place appropriate warning signs or devices around or near the hazard as soon as is reasonably possible.
  • Must report any potential hazards that cannot be immediately remedied to a supervisor.
