About The Position
Ensure products meet established quality standards by examining and testing at various stages of the production process.
Requirements
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and knowledge of basic shop mathematics.
- Experience in heavy structural fabrication and ability to read blueprints, shop drawings, and welding symbols.
- Knowledge of welding processes.
- Adhere to all Southland Steel Fabricators, Inc. safety rules, policies, and procedures.
- Maintain orderly and clean work areas and attend required safety meetings.
- Inspect equipment and tools daily and use hand and power tools safely.
- Wear appropriate PPE for specific tasks.
Responsibilities
- Perform visual inspection of weld quality and dimensional checks of detail parts.
- Inspect, test, or measure materials, products, installations, or work for conformance to specifications.
- Measure product dimensions using rulers, calipers, gauges, or micrometers.
- Read blueprints, data, manuals, and other materials to determine specifications and testing procedures.
- Record inspection/test data including dimensions, defects, grades, and quantities.
- Mark items with details such as grade or acceptance-rejection status.
- Notify supervisors or production personnel of problems and recommend corrective actions.
