About The Position

The Quality Control Inspector II is responsible for performing advanced receiving, in-process, and final inspections on transit vehicle components and assemblies. This role independently interprets engineering drawings and specifications, supports root cause investigations, and serves as a technical resource to production teams to prevent defects and ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards. Level II inspectors operate with minimal supervision and are expected to identify trends, recommend corrective actions, and mentor Level I inspectors when needed.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in transit vehicle, heavy equipment, automotive, aerospace, or similar manufacturing
  • Strong ability to read and interpret complex mechanical and electrical drawings
  • Working knowledge of GD&T
  • Understanding of weld inspection fundamentals
  • Ability to perform electrical continuity and basic functional testing
  • ERP and quality system proficiency
  • High attention to detail and documentation accuracy
  • Ability to communicate technical findings clearly
  • Strong problem-solving mindset
  • Experience supporting MRB activities
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001

Nice To Haves

  • CWI coursework or formal inspection training preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Perform receiving, in-process, and final inspections with limited supervision
  • Interpret engineering drawings, schematics, weld symbols, GD&T, and specifications.
  • Conduct dimensional inspections using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, torque tools, and electrical test equipment.
  • Support First Article Inspections (FAI) and PPAP-related verification activities.
  • Identify, document, and control nonconforming material and participate in MRB review activities.
  • Verify corrective actions and rework prior to product release.
  • Support internal audits and ISO 9001 compliance efforts.
  • Provide quality feedback to Manufacturing, Engineering, and Supply Chain.
  • Assist in training Level I inspectors on inspection techniques and documentation practices.
  • Help track and analyze recurring defects and quality trends.
