J.M. Fabrication Company, LLC•Arlington, TX
•$25 - $35•Onsite

About The Position

Our quality team is looking for a hands-on dimensional inspector who can run a coordinate measuring machine (CMM) with PC-DMIS, read complex blueprints, and stand behind every measurement. You will inspect first articles, in-process work, finished parts, and incoming material, and you will be the person who catches a bad setup before it becomes a bad part.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of dimensional or quality inspection experience in manufacturing, including hands-on CMM operation
  • PC-DMIS experience loading and running existing programs, checking alignments, and interpreting results
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and apply GD&T to actual parts and setups
  • Skilled with precision hand gauges and manual dimensional inspection
  • Understanding of how fixturing, alignment, cleanliness, and temperature affect measurement accuracy
  • Strong attention to detail and accurate, complete record-keeping
  • Clear communicator who can explain inspection findings to Quality and Production
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and electronic inspection or manufacturing records
  • Works independently within procedures and knows when to ask for technical guidance

Nice To Haves

  • PC-DMIS programming: creating, editing, troubleshooting, and validating CMM programs
  • Inspection of precision CNC machined parts, fabrications, or assemblies
  • AS9100 or ISO 9001 quality system experience
  • AS9102 FAI documentation experience
  • Knowledge of CNC milling, turning, or fabrication processes
  • SPC and MSA familiarity
  • Training or certification in metrology, GD&T, or quality inspection

Responsibilities

  • Run approved PC-DMIS inspection programs on the CMM, review the data, and produce inspection reports
  • Confirm the part ID, drawing revision, program, fixturing, probe qualification, and alignment before accepting a result
  • Perform first article (FAI), in-process, final, and receiving inspection as assigned
  • Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T per ASME Y14.5, to the revision called out by the drawing or customer
  • Apply datum reference frames, feature control frames, basic dimensions, true position, profile, flatness, perpendicularity, parallelism, and runout to real setups and results
  • Work with MMC, LMC, RFS, and bonus tolerance where they apply
  • Verify features manually with micrometers, calipers, height gauges, dial indicators, pin gauges, and a surface plate
  • Investigate unexpected readings and escalate setup, alignment, program, or print-interpretation questions
  • Record results accurately with full traceability to part, job, drawing revision, and gauge
  • Tag and segregate nonconforming material per procedure and alert Quality and Production promptly
  • Help prepare AS9102 first article inspection reports when customers require them
  • Check calibration status, perform routine operator checks and cleaning, and report gauge or machine problems
  • Contribute to root cause analysis, corrective action, and better inspection methods
  • Keep the inspection area organized and follow quality and safety procedures
