About The Position

Granite State Manufacturing is a leading contract manufacturer of large, complex, precision machined and welded components, supporting the US Navy in building submarines. We specialize in high-mix, low-to-medium volume production, delivering precision, quality, and on-time performance on custom-engineered products. Our capabilities include large-format CNC machining, heavy fabrication and welding (MIG, TIG, FCAW, SAW), assembly, inspection, and testing, and program management for complex builds. We are known for handling tight tolerances, complex geometries, and demanding customer specifications. Our work environment is supportive, providing what our people need to do great work. Reads and interprets work instructions and blueprints to determine dimensions and tolerances. Interprets and uses Geometric Tolerances. Measures, inspects, tests and verifies machined, welded and finished parts for conformance to specifications. Completes receiving inspection of components.

Requirements

Certification from college or technical school, or three years related experience and training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Basic knowledge of geometric dimensions and tolerances.
Basic knowledge of plating, chromate irradite, tin plating, hard coat, anodize etc. Basic knowledge of aluminum, delrin, steel, stainless steel.
Strong computer skills. Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint; Mozilla Thunderbird.
Must be able to work independently without supervision.
Due to the nature and importance of GSM’s work, our positions require access to export-controlled information. Therefore, all candidates must qualify as a U.S. Person under applicable export-control/ITAR regulations or otherwise be authorized to access such information under U.S. law.

Responsibilities

Supports first piece, in-process, and final inspections.
Completes receiving inspection on purchased components, supplier processed components, etc.
Reads blueprints or specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances.
Verifies specified dimensions using measuring equipment such as, but not limited to: verniers, calipers, micrometers, and height stands.
Rejects defective parts and marks type of defect on part, container, and inspection tag. Writes reports regarding inspection and testing results.
Supports inspection duties, quality objectives, and the Quality Management System.
Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece.
Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications.
Must be flexible enough to work in all areas of operation per the direction of the Leadership.
Assists other areas in support of product conformity.
Facilitates effective communications and working relationships (including answering department phone).
Demonstrates responsibility and accountability for creating a professional, safe, and clean environment evidenced by: being at work on time to perform assigned duties, following the policies of Granite State Manufacturing, always wearing safety glasses in designated areas, maintaining a neat and orderly work area, and following safety practices to prevent errors.
