Quality Control Field Inspection Assistant (Temporary) - Heavy Civil Construction
About The Position
Jim Dent Construction is seeking a temporary Quality Control Field Inspection Assistant to support a project in the Castlegar area of the West Kootenays BC. This opportunity is ideal for students, recent graduates, or entry-level professionals aiming to gain practical field experience in construction quality control and inspections. The role requires adaptability in a fast-paced environment, self-motivation, and the ability to follow direction. Teamwork and strong communication are essential. The assistant will help verify that construction work aligns with inspection requirements and project procedures, involving outdoor fieldwork, documentation, and collaboration with the project team. No extensive technical experience is necessary, as training will be provided, including onboarding, site orientation, and Fall Arrest certification.
Requirements

- Ability to follow procedures and complete accurate documentation
- Comfortable performing outdoor physical field work
- Good communication and organizational skills
- Availability to work day and night shifts
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
Nice To Haves
- Basic administrative or document control experience is an asset
- Previous civil construction or inspection experience is helpful but not required
Responsibilities
- Assist with QC field inspections along canal infrastructure
- Walk and navigate canal areas safely during inspections
- Record and organize inspection information accurately
- Follow established procedures and quality control requirements
- Support the project team with basic administration and document control tasks
- Help verify completed work prior to review by senior team members and the client
- Maintain safe work practices at all times
