About The Position

Assist with managing the overall performance and maintenance of the QC processes and procedures. Processes include the positive release, non-conforming material program, document management, and quality training. This position interacts with customers and vendors while gaining critical information as it relates to quality and services and providing leadership to the quality control organization. The employee in this position is expected to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends, with the potential for occasional swing shift coverage as needed.

Requirements

  • Must have a minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in quality control.
  • Must have three (3) years of leadership experience.
  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience.
  • Possesses strong technical skills to effectively perform essential duties and adapt to changes in the work environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience, certifications, or education in quality control, food safety, or related fields are a plus.
  • HACCP/Food Safety Team member or ability to gain HACCP Certification.
  • Ability to gain Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) Certification in accordance with the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) Preventive Controls for Human Food Rule.
  • Food Defense Team member.
  • Ability to gain Food Defense Coordinator Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Perform training and organize training documents alongside Quality Project Specialist.
  • Assist with the record keeping of training records for all Quality Control (QC) personnel alongside Quality Systems Coordinators.
  • Oversee QC operations to ensure that ingredients/materials/finished products meet customer specifications as well as ensuring all documentation protocols are followed.
  • Promote customer confidence by aligning daily lab operations to control expected quality levels.
  • Plan the meeting discussion points and host the monthly QC team meetings.
  • Assist QC Manager with review and approval of the finished product test results (Line Control Reports/Red Zone) for ability to release for shipment.
  • Upload the required QC documentation to our customer portals.
  • Oversee the sampling and retain programs to ensure adequate representative results are obtained and historical references are available for all production.
  • Manage the investigations for all non-conforming finished products and raw material while preventing inadvertent shipment of non-conforming finished products and report to QC manager for final disposition.
  • Assist with the investigations of Customer/Consumer Complaints in collaboration with all Quality leadership.
  • Coordinate sensory taste panels as needed.
  • Approve and audit supplier raw material (ingredients and packaging) to ensure QC compliance.
  • Perform QC Process audits and fulfill required CAPAs.
  • Support Continuous Improvement efforts.
  • Ensure current document revisions are in place, and all records have reference numbers and revision dates.
  • Support New Customer setups and Customer revisions as requested.
  • Assist with the formula control and specification management programs.
  • Assist with validations and verifications as necessary.
  • Assist with the Change Management Program including internal and external change requests.
  • Manage proper stock levels are maintained for lab supplies and support Lab Assistant to ensure purchase of all needed lab consumables.
  • Assist with the coordination of service contracts and PM services for Lab/Line equipment.
  • Manage daily verification activities of the particle prevention systems.
  • Drive Total Plant Quality management initiatives.
  • Assist with the allergen control program.
  • Other duties as assigned.
