About The Position

The Quality Calibration Technician I is responsible for supporting gage calibration requirements, testing and calibrating electrical, mechanical, electromechanical, and electronic measuring, recording, and indicating instruments and equipment for conformance to established standards. This role is responsible for learning how to effectively use all basic precision measuring hand tools including indicators, micrometers, thread wires, height masters, and comparators in the performance of these duties.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent and minimum inspection experience should be equivalent to a Mechanical/Dimensional Inspector, Level 1 or greater.
  • Ability to understand and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, and tolerances.
  • Basic working knowledge of GD&T is required.
  • Basic understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Ability to use calibration software such as Gage Trak.
  • Must be able to create a schedule, gage files, and populate gage
  • Must be able to clearly, concisely, and accurately convey ideas and information to others, in English, both verbally and in written form.

Responsibilities

  • Set up standard and special purpose laboratory equipment to test, evaluate, and calibrate other instruments and test equipment.
  • Disassemble gages and instruments and inspect components for defects.
  • Measure parts for conformity with specifications.
  • Reassemble and calibrate gages and instruments.
  • Provide both efficient and accurate performance of routine mechanical gage calibrations including maintenance of calibration records.
  • Assist engineers in formulating test, calibration, repair, and evaluation plans and procedures to maintain precision accuracy of measuring, recording, and indicating instruments and equipment.
  • Communicate effectively to supervision regarding problems and strive to find solutions.
  • Seek and act upon ways to improve daily work processes to enhance productivity.
  • Participate in 5S Workplace activities, maintaining the area in good working order through sustainment activities.
  • Regular on-site attendance and punctuality is a necessary function of this position.
  • May be required to work in other functional areas and/or facilities depending on business needs.
  • May be required to work overtime or alternate shifts based on business needs.
  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned.
