About The Position

SQA Services is seeking a Quality Cable & Harness Inspector for the Los Angeles and Orange County area. This role involves performing inspections at client supplier locations to ensure products meet quality and specification standards. The position requires a strong understanding of cable harness assembly and quality assurance principles. SQA Services has been a leading provider of managed supplier quality services for over 30 years, offering a wide range of services including audits, assessments, inspections, and engineering solutions to manufacturers globally. They utilize a network of skilled associates to provide rapid on-site support. This is a flexible, full-time or part-time role, averaging 3-5 days per week, on an as-needed basis. Inspectors have the flexibility to accept or decline individual inspection requests.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of cable and harness assembly methods
  • Familiar with IPC-A-620 standards
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a Cable and Harness Inspector/Assembler in electronic manufacturing or related fields
  • Ability to read schematics, assembly drawings, and identify wiring components
  • Proficient in documenting Certificates of Conformance (COC)
  • Strong organizational, communication, and software adaptation skills
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or U.S. lawful permanent resident (green card holder) to comply with ITAR regulations.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified or previously certified in IPC-A-620
  • Diploma or GED from an accredited high school or technical school; college degree in engineering
  • Knowledge of electronic contract manufacturing and LEAN manufacturing
  • Preferred: 5 years of experience, with 2 years as a Cable and Harness Inspector

Responsibilities

  • Perform first-article, in-process, and final inspections at one or more client suppliers
  • Ensure products meet quality and specification standards
  • Verify safety wire orientation, correct turns, and pigtails as per specifications
  • Confirm shipping documentation is legible and accurate (part number, serial number, etc.)
  • Check documentation packages to industry standards and classify defects
  • Interpret manufacturing drawings and identifying non-conformances
  • Periodically verify accuracy and ensure productivity to meet production schedules
  • Maintain equipment and keep the work area organized
