About The Position

The Quality Auditor is responsible for ensuring that all manufactured components meet strict customer specifications and internal quality standards. This role balances active floor inspections with high-level technical documentation. You will be the primary lead for validating new production runs through First Article Inspections and managing the full Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) for key accounts.

Requirements

• 3+ years in quality assurance within a metal fabrication or machining environment.
• Expert use of calipers, micrometers, height gauges, protractors, and thread gauges.
• Deep understanding of ISO 9001: 2015 (FAI) and AIAG (PPAP) standards.
• Advanced ability to interpret technical drawings, including GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) symbols.
• Proficiency in ERP systems for data entry and Microsoft Excel for data analysis.
• An uncompromising eye for detail, particularly regarding tolerances in bending, cutting, and machining.
• Ability to clearly explain quality failures to production operators and management without causing friction.
• A proactive approach to identifying "why" a part is out of spec, rather than just "that" it is out of spec.
• Comfortable following and enforcing strict Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Ability to stand/walk for extended periods on a manufacturing floor.
• Capable of lifting up to 40 lbs (standard for metal blanks or finished assemblies).
• Comfortable working in an industrial environment with moderate noise levels.
• High School Diploma or GED required.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with CMM or Faro Arm is a plus.
• Certifications such as ASQ Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) or Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) are highly preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily first-piece, in-process, and final inspections of metal parts using precision measurement tools.
• Lead the creation and verification of First Article Inspection (FAI) reports to ensure the manufacturing process is capable of producing parts that meet all requirements.
• Develop and submit PPAP packages, including Control Plans, PFMEA (Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), and Part Submission Warrants (PSW).
• Conduct regular audits of operators’ self-checks to ensure calipers, micrometers, and gauges are being used correctly at the machine (Laser, CNC, Press Brake).
• Identify, document, and segregate non-conforming materials. Work with production leads to determine root causes and implementing corrective actions.
• Maintain the calibration log for all hand tools and specialized inspection equipment.
