About The Position

The Starbucks experience begins in their Roasting Plants, which house dedicated teams for roasting, planning, warehouse management, packaging, maintenance, engineering, and logistics. This Quality Assurance Technician role is responsible for evaluating and documenting the quality of finished goods and raw materials, ensuring compliance with regulatory and HACCP requirements within the manufacturing facility and warehouse space.

Requirements

High school diploma/GED, US military service or equivalent
Operation of manual and automated analytical equipment (1 year)
Regulated food manufacturing environment with familiarity of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) standards (1 year)
Scientific method and report writing (1 year)
Gathering, recording and reporting on operational and quality metrics, through manual or automated systems (1 year)
Analytical skills
Attention to detail
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
Ability to work independently and make decisions with minimal supervision
Mechanical/Technical Aptitude to troubleshoot minor equipment failures and make minor adjustments
Ability to perform basic math functions
Basic skills in Microsoft Windows and internet applications
Ability to work with a diverse team environment
Ability to work in accordance with safety, quality and sanitation standards, policies and procedures
Ability to work variable shifts to support business needs

Nice To Haves

4 year degree
Familiarity with food safety regulatory requirements and global standards including Preventive Controls for Human Food (FDA Code of Federal Regulations) and the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI).
Experience with the GFSI certification schemes (i.e. BRC and/or or SQF).

Responsibilities

Evaluate and document quality of finished goods and raw materials.
Report quality conditions as needed.
Evaluate the condition of the manufacturing facility and warehouse space to ensure compliance to regulatory and HACCP requirements.
Audit programs in support of quality objectives.
Maintain a clean and organized working environment.
Follow safety regulations.
Participate in process improvement activities.
Meet performance schedules.
Maintain product quality through adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Food Safety Preventive Controls, product specifications and quality procedures.
Participate in the maintenance and development of plant quality programs in support of HACCP.
Provide training and education of quality-based programs to manufacturing partners.
Demonstrate and understand safety as a core value and follow the key essentials to safety as set forth by our safety resolution; reinforce and coach others to do the same.
Understand and follow established safety guidelines, consistently comply with all safety procedures (e.g. PPE, Lock Out Tag Out).
Support food safety, legality and quality programs.
Maintain product quality through adherence to good manufacturing practices, Food Safety Preventative Controls, product specifications and quality procedures.
Monitor and document quality measures using analytical tools.
Perform other duties as needed in support of business objectives and Starbucks Mission & Values.
Maintain regular and consistent attendance and punctuality.
