The Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for carrying out Quality Assurance of production with a frequency as listed in the Quality Spot-check schedule. This role ensures all Quality Assurance is performed in compliance with the Procedures/Instruction and the Quality Tolerance database, and requires familiarity with and adherence to all ISO and SQF Procedures/Instructions related to the Quality Assurance Function. The technician will perform entrance control of critical product, ensure production is notified about any problems or potential problems as soon as possible, and that the correct documentation is filled out. They will inform production about continuing quality problems and ensure it is verified and documented that the quality is again acceptable once the responsible production department verifies that the problem has been corrected. The role also involves performing Article Tests, managing the process of putting products on "hold" and ensuring all product is correctly marked. In case of ongoing quality problems, the technician ensures product is being put on hold until the problem has been corrected. Additionally, the technician will assist the Quality Manager and Quality Assurance Supervisor in maintaining and updating the laboratory collection of samples to be used for quality tests. They are responsible for spot-checking the product on "hold" to determine the condition/severity of the defect and for spot-checking reworked product to determine that all standards are met. The technician will also report on internal Action Requests regarding personnel not following Berry Plastics Corp. regulations for cleanliness, such as wearing hair restraints, gloves, etc.
