Quality Assurance Technician I - Champaign, IL
About The Position
This role is responsible for identifying and reacting to Food Safety, Good Manufacturing Practices, and HACCP concerns. The technician will perform measurement, observation, and inspection of process and product to ensure products meet quality requirements according to specification. This includes tasks during startups, changeovers, line clearance, PM’s, and in-processing during the shift. The technician must follow GMP requirements and ensure that GMP type issues do not affect product integrity. They will also be responsible for creating and maintaining documentation, placing product on hold if it does not meet specifications, and visually inspecting/auditing product to ensure visual defect requirements are met. A strong understanding of Visual Quality Standards and sampling procedures is necessary.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1 year experience in a manufacturing environment
- Mathematical ability (add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; compute rate, ratio, and percent)
- Ability to read and interpret prints for measurements and specifications
- Communication skills
- Writing legibly
- Basic computer skills
Nice To Haves
- Knowledge of MS Office preferred
Responsibilities

- Conduct checks during startups, changeovers, line clearance, PM’s, and in-processing during the shift.
- Follow GMP requirements and ensure GMP issues do not affect product integrity.
- Create and maintain documentation as required by procedures and work instructions.
- Place product on hold if it does not meet specifications, after verifying it is not due to gauge or operator error.
- Visually inspect/audit product to determine that visual defect requirements are met.
- Understand sample size and frequency for testing, including Full Shots, Full Rounds, and subgroups.
- Perform quality duties per work instructions during the shift.
- Use gages per PMP’s to measure product and enter dimensional data into computer software.
