About The Position

Supervises the daily execution of the Food Safety and Quality Assurance Program in accordance with Stampede Culinary Partners policies and procedures, USDA regulations, customer requirements, and applicable federal, state, and local food safety standards. Provides leadership and direction to Food Safety and Quality Assurance Technicians to ensure food safety, quality, and regulatory requirements are consistently met. Supports the Food Safety and Quality Assurance Manager in maintaining compliance, resolving food safety and quality issues, and ensuring the production of safe, legal, and high-quality products. Serves as a backup to the Food Safety and Quality Assurance Manager as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B. S.) from four-year College or university is preferred
  • At least 2 years related experience, preferably in Quality Assurance and/or Manufacturing, food safety and food handling practices.
  • Previous supervisory experience may be required depending upon other related work experience or education.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to analyze data, prepare reports, maintain records, and manage electronic documentation.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with quality management systems, document control systems, audit management software, ERP systems, and food safety databases is preferred.
  • HAACP certification is preferred and eventually expected.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the daily execution of the Food Safety and Quality Assurance Programs to ensure compliance with written programs, prerequisite programs, company policies, USDA regulations, and customer requirements.
  • Oversees and performs daily reviews of QA Technician documentation for each production line, including hourly production records, temperature calibrations, metal detection verification, weight checks, product specification checks, and organoleptic evaluations.
  • Participates in and leads Food Safety and Quality Assurance meetings to discuss food safety, quality, customer concerns, and continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Oversees QA Technician inspections of incoming raw materials, ingredients, and packaging materials while verifying receiving documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Maintains cooked product specifications and controlled documents while working collaboratively with the FSQA Manager, Operations, Culinary, and Food Safety leadership to ensure specifications remain current and are updated as needed.
  • Works collaboratively with the FSQA Manager and HACCP/Food Safety Coordinator to monitor Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) throughout the facility.
  • Maintains knowledge of applicable USDA regulations and company food safety requirements.
  • Works closely with USDA inspection personnel to maintain regulatory compliance and a professional working relationship.
  • Conducts pre-operational and operational inspections as needed.
  • Oversees Quality Incident Reports by conducting root cause investigations, preparing responses to customer complaints and product-related issues, reviewing findings with QA Technicians, and maintaining required documentation.
  • Oversees metal detection systems to ensure proper operation, verification, required adjustments, and maintenance of associated records.
  • Supervises the training and onboarding of QA Technicians while maintaining required training documentation.
  • Conducts employee performance evaluations and provides coaching to support employee development and continuous improvement.
  • Conducts shelf-life evaluations as required.
  • Supports investigations and responses to customer inquiries, complaints, product deficiencies, and other food safety or quality concerns.
  • Supports first production runs for new and revised products to verify compliance with product specifications and updates specifications as needed.
  • Maintains documentation required for customer, regulatory, and third-party audits.
  • Reviews finished products on an ongoing basis to verify compliance with product specifications and quality standards.
  • Resolves daily food safety and quality issues in collaboration with Operations and other departments.
  • Maintains supplier quality documentation and follows up on raw material quality concerns.
  • Oversees product hold activities, including product identification, documentation, investigation, and disposition.
  • Assists with maintaining barcode systems, checkweighers, and other quality monitoring equipment.
  • Conducts GMP, food safety, and quality training as assigned.
  • Assists with maintaining the facility Food Defense and Security Program.
  • Promotes Stampede Culinary Partners' values while fostering a culture of food safety, quality, accountability, and teamwork.
  • Serves as a backup to the FSQA Manager and HACCP/Food Safety Coordinator as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Provides leadership and direction to the Assistant QA Supervisor and QA department in accordance with the organization's policies, food safety standards, and applicable laws. Responsibilities include supporting employee development, coaching, assigning and prioritizing work, monitoring departmental performance, conducting performance evaluations for direct reports, addressing employee concerns, and fostering a culture of food safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement. Works closely with the Assistant QA Supervisor to ensure departmental objectives are achieved while maintaining compliance with company, customer, and regulatory requirements.
