About The Position

The Neil Jones Food Company is seeking a Seasonal Quality Assurance Supervisor to provide support and leadership to the plant’s quality assurance and sanitation functions. This role assists in managing the quality assurance team and participates in continuous improvement initiatives. The supervisor will assist with planning, coordination, and direction of the quality control program to ensure continuous production of products consistent with established standards. Responsibilities include monitoring the quality of the manufacturing process from incoming materials to finished product shipment, ensuring formulations and quality standards are met, maintaining adequate sanitation standards, and verifying packaging requirements align with industry standards at the San Benito Foods plant in Hollister, CA.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Quality Management, technical, or related field; advanced degree desirable; or any equivalent combination of training, experience and education that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities of this position.
  • 5 years’ progressively responsible experience in Quality Assurance Management in a food manufacturing business.
  • Minimum of one year direct supervisory experience, preferably in a union environment.
  • Experience in the application and implementation of HACCP/PCHF/TQM /SQF.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test, background check and credit screen.

Nice To Haves

  • SQF, HACCP and PCQI preferred.
  • PCQI and SQF or any GFSI system training preferred.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Directly supervise lab personnel and ensure all lab functions are correctly administered according to established standard operating procedures and applicable USDA regulations.
  • Coordinate with QA Manager and Production Managers on production scheduling and relay this information to appropriate QA staff.
  • Interpret lab results and make final adjustments when necessary, ensuring score sheets are provided to production in a timely manner.
  • Ensure all required testing is completed and shift data is properly entered into the computer.
  • Ensure all lab and plant equipment are properly maintained, replaced, and/or calibrated prior to the start-up of each shift, communicating any deficiencies to the appropriate personnel.
  • Plan and organize weekly cleaning and maintenance of lab equipment.
