About The Position

The Quality Specialist is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of Quality Assurance and the on-site testing laboratory. This role serves as a subject matter expert in quality systems and processes, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and supporting customer expectations. Accuracy, organization, and attention to detail are critical in this position.

Requirements

  • 1–5 years of experience in manufacturing quality assurance, preferably in packaging.
  • Strong knowledge of quality assurance principles.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong typing and documentation skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
  • Certified SQF Practitioner.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and continuously improve the quality program to ensure systems meet customer specifications and company requirements.
  • Lead and manage laboratory functions, including: Calibration of lab equipment (acting as SME or vendor point-of-contact), Oversight of the proficiency testing program, Managing Certificates of Conformance/Analysis (COC/COA) processes for incoming materials and finished goods, Serving as ERP system subject matter expert within the Quality department.
  • Develop and analyze statistical data and product specifications to evaluate standards, quality, and reliability.
  • Execute validation and verification requirements for the Milwaukee site per SQF Code.
  • Train, coach, and guide employees on testing and inspection activities.
  • Provide quality training and onboarding for new hires.
  • Expedite disposition of non-conforming materials (raw, in-process, customer returns) on quality hold.
  • Investigate and resolve customer complaints, including managing return material authorization processes.
  • Act as designated backup for the Quality Manager, including serving as backup SQF Practitioner.
  • Ensure product safety and compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with plant operations, sales, and customer service teams on quality-related issues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
