About The Position

The Quality Assurance Specialist assists in tasks and duties related to quality assurance processes. This role is crucial for ensuring the safety and quality of products and processes through continuous improvement within the FSQA department. The specialist will support the FSQA strategy, analyze food safety data, and manage supplier quality programs. Additionally, they will ensure product quality consistency, provide QA support for product issues, and collaborate with Plant Quality teams on audits and corrective action plans. The role involves monitoring and inspecting processes to meet quality standards, developing and implementing quality assurance policies, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. The specialist will also address issues, propose solutions, create training materials, identify gaps through data analysis, and provide technical support for regulatory requirements from manufacturing to the customer. A key responsibility is supporting four plants in maintaining audit readiness through program updates, SOP verification, and paperwork checks. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Nutrition, Chemistry, or related Science
  • 2-5 years’ experience in food regulation
  • Must be able to travel 25% of the time – between plants
  • Must be able to frequently reach up to 52 inches

Responsibilities

  • Assure safe, high-quality products and quality processes by continuous improvement of the FSQA department
  • Support the development and implementation of the FSQA strategy, goals, and objectives
  • Analyze and report food safety data and trends to monitor and drive continuous food safety performance improvement
  • Support the development and implementation of supplier quality programs; oversee evaluations and audits, conduct on-site supplier visits, on-boarding, and other functions related to supplier or ingredient quality
  • Ensure product quality consistency and help develop a QC program
  • Provide QA support for all product issues
  • Work with Plant Quality teams in developing audits and corrective action plans
  • Responsible for monitoring, inspecting, and proposing measures to correct or improve a company's final products and processes to meet established quality standards.
  • Prepare and implement quality assurance policies and procedures
  • Ensure that standards and safety regulations at the company are observed
  • Address and discuss issues and proposed solutions with superiors and document activities
  • Recommend improvements and creates training materials and operating manuals.
  • Identifying gaps, e.g., via analyzing and managing the data from floor paperwork.
  • Technical Support per regulatory (USDA, FSMA, and Food Code) requirements from manufacturing processes to final customer.
  • Supports the 4 plants to be audit ready (daily) via updating programs, SOPs, and paperwork verification.
