About The Position

The Quality Assurance Specialist- NDE/NDT/NDI Level II / III will support the Safety and Mission Assurance Services II (SMAS II) contract located at Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans, LA. The preferred candidate will have at minimum, Level II certification experience in one or more of the following nondestructive testing methods in accordance with NAS-410 requirements: Radiographic Testing (RT), Ultrasonic Testing (UT) with preferred experience in PAUT, Eddy Current Testing (ET), or Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT). This role involves executing quality assurance and nondestructive testing requirements during all phases of hardware fabrication, testing, first article inspections, and end-item inspections. The specialist will perform process surveillance, verify test results and documentation, and maintain necessary training and certifications. They will also collaborate with personnel to resolve inspection questions and communicate technical issues to project engineers. The role requires performing accurate mechanical, physical, and visual inspections, conducting or monitoring NDE/NDT activities, and verifying inspection and test documentation. A working knowledge of higher-level quality assurance system requirements, including ISO and AS standards, is essential.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 7+ years of recent and related work experience.
  • Minimum Level II certification in PAUT in accordance with NAS-410 requirements.
  • Ability to provide documented evidence of previous formal training, experience hours, and prior certification records.
  • Maintain the physical agility necessary to perform Quality Assurance inspections and successfully pass required medical examinations, including those related to Confined Space Entry.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical charts, specification sheets, and complex engineering documentation.
  • Ability to prepare written documentation of inspection results using company and customer forms or software systems.
  • Successfully pass a visual acuity examination in at least one eye, either natural or corrected.
  • Working knowledge of AS9100/ISO9001 Quality System requirements, or equivalent industry standard.
  • Possess the ability to read complex blueprints, technical charts, and specification sheets.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and TEAMS.
  • Must be team players with strong work ethics and must be culture oriented.
  • Able to communicate effectively, verbally and in written form, with internal and external customers.
  • Able to follow company programs, processes, procedures, practices, requirements, goals, and objectives.
  • Must be organized with good time management skills and must be able to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
  • US Citizenship due to the sensitivity of customer related information.

Nice To Haves

  • Level II certification experience in PAUT and Eddy Current Testing (ET) is a highly desired skill.
  • Previous experience working with flight critical hardware in an ESD/FOD sensitive environments.
  • Witnessing critical quality assurance and assembly operations of various components and complex assemblies.
  • Mechanical Inspector with experience utilizing calipers, micometers, optical measurment devices and other shop tools.
  • Experience working with aerospace flight hardware.
  • Experience executing quality requirements in accordance with customer approved quality assurance plans/policies and specifications during all phases of hardware fabrication, testing, first article inspection, and final end item inspections.

Responsibilities

  • Execute quality assurance and nondestructive testing requirements in accordance with customer-approved quality assurance plans, policies, and specifications during all phases of hardware fabrication, testing, first article inspections, and end-item inspections.
  • Perform process surveillance using witnessing and monitoring techniques and verify test results and documentation for raw materials, components, and sub-assemblies in accordance with approved inspection documents and specification requirements.
  • Maintain current company and customer-required training and certifications necessary to uphold quality inspection stamp authorization and warranty expectations.
  • Work with company and customer personnel to resolve inspection questions and communicate technical issues to project engineers to ensure compliance with final product specification requirements.
  • Perform accurate mechanical, physical, and visual inspections, conduct and/or monitor nondestructive testing and evaluation activities, and verify inspection and test documentation for raw materials, components, and sub-assemblies.
  • Apply knowledge of higher-level quality assurance system requirements, including ISO and AS standards, and interpret and implement QA system-level requirements while performing all assigned quality assurance duties.
  • Initiate non-conformance reports, document and report inspection results, and monitor corrective actions for effectiveness.
