About The Position

Arc Herkimer is seeking a dedicated and proactive Quality Assurance Specialist / Safety Officer to help maintain excellence across its programs and facilities. This role involves ensuring compliance and quality standards, supporting agency-wide quality improvement initiatives, and leading the agency's safety program. The ideal candidate is passionate about quality, compliance, safety, and making a difference in the community, with strong problem-solving skills and a commitment to creating safe environments where people can thrive.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in Human Services or a related field and three (3) years of relevant experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Services or a related field and one (1) year of relevant experience.
  • High School Diploma/GED and five (5) years of relevant experience.
  • Workplace safety experience required.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret regulations and implement practical solutions.
  • Experience conducting audits, inspections, investigations, or reviews.
  • Agency-approvable driver's license required.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, OPWDD regulations, and compliance standards preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct audits, reviews, and assessments to ensure compliance and quality standards are met.
  • Assist with HIPAA privacy and security compliance efforts.
  • Support agency-wide quality improvement initiatives.
  • Conduct investigations and reviews as assigned.
  • Interpret regulations and help departments develop effective compliance processes.
  • Provide training and guidance to staff on quality and compliance topics.
  • Help strengthen systems that support outstanding services for the people we support.
  • Lead and coordinate Arc Herkimer's agency-wide safety program.
  • Chair the Safety Committee and promote a culture of safety.
  • Conduct and oversee safety inspections across agency locations.
  • Track, analyze, and report safety data and trends.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA, OPWDD, and other applicable regulations.
  • Coordinate safety training programs for employees.
  • Oversee safety equipment inspections and maintenance.
  • Assist with emergency preparedness, disaster planning, and workplace safety initiatives.
