About The Position

BQMI has an exciting and rewarding position supporting NASA’s missions to the Moon and Mars. The Safety and Mission Assurance (SMA) Engineering Contract (SMAEC III) at the Johnson Space Center in Houston is looking for an enthusiastic Quality Assurance Specialist 3 to support the development, verification, and certification of EVA Suits for Lunar missions. Come join our team and help us continue the mission of space exploration. Performs hands-on, highly skilled work (hardware or software) at the advanced level. Position at this level requires a comprehensive and thorough knowledge of the full range of principles, concepts, and methodology related to one or more quality assurance functional programs, and considerable skill in applying this knowledge to the planning and accomplishment of a variety of difficult and complex work assignments. Knowledgeable of the capabilities and practices associated with quality assurance for all phases of the critical life cycle, including design, procurement, manufacturing, auditing, assembly, testing, and operations for critical systems. Proficient in the use of standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the quality assurance trade. Highly skilled with all quality assurance procedures and techniques, pertinent regulations and program requirements and quality management systems. Thorough and detailed knowledge of and skill in applying various methods and techniques for investigating, analyzing and effecting corrective action on complex quality problems. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent.
Min 10+ years of education or experience in inspection or related field in quality assurance to include an in-depth knowledge in the manufacturing, assembly, and testing of critical hardware.
Previous experience with NASA quality inspections.
Basic knowledge and use of personal computers with typical business software.
Excellent organizational, documentation, written and verbal communication skills are mandatory.
Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance.
Must be able to work independently.
Must be comfortable interfacing with a variety of individuals at all levels.
Must be self-motivated to work in an office or technical environment or remotely if the situation requires it.
Maintain high standard of performance in complex assignments without direct supervision.
Demonstrated ability to make good judgment decisions relative to routine quality requirements, methods, and procedures.
Good oral and written communication skills.
Ability to read and interpret verbal and written instructions.
Proficiency operating test and measurement equipment and tools.
Knowledge of inspection techniques and methods required to support processing.
Must be a team player and able to work well with a variety of disciplines.
Experience in avionics and/or hardware/software integration, or process controls.
Familiarity with manufacturing/test, functions, and ability to interpret drawings.
Adheres to published safety procedures.
Flexibility on task assignments is necessary to ensure proper floor coverage for Quality Assurance team.

Responsibilities

Perform Quality Assurance inspections to ensure compliance with specifications.
Perform inspections of mechanical, electrical, and electronic subsystems.
Inspect components during fabrication, installation, assembly, testing, modifications, or repairs.
Perform product verification via Mandatory Inspection Points and Government Mandatory Inspection Points.
May perform receiving inspection on test articles, and test support equipment.
Documents discrepancies for facilities and hardware.
Witness assembly of hardware and facility/test buildup.
Witness and verify technician workmanship.
Witness test build-up configuration and tests.
Verify contamination control requirements.
Adheres to published safety procedures.
