  • 3–5 years of mechanical/dimensional inspection experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T.
  • Proficiency with surface plate set-ups and layout inspection techniques.
  • Hands-on experience with all standard precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, height gages, indicators, thread/pin gages, optical comparator, etc.).
  • Working knowledge of sampling procedures and AQL-based acceptance sampling.
  • Solid math skills and attention to detail with the ability to accurately record and interpret measurement data.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize, and manage inspection workload to support production schedules.
  • Experience inspecting plated, coated, and finished components, including coating/plating thickness verification.
  • Experience with nonconformance/MRB processes and first article inspection.
  • Experience using ERP/quality systems (e.g., SAP) for receiving and inspection transactions.

Responsibilities

  • Perform incoming (receiving) inspection of purchased parts, components, and raw materials against engineering drawings, purchase order requirements, and applicable specifications.
  • Interpret and apply GD&T callouts, datums, and tolerances from blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Set up and perform surface plate layouts and inspections using height gages, gage blocks, angle plates, sine bars, and related tooling.
  • Conduct dimensional inspection using standard measuring tools, including calipers, micrometers, height gages, bore/depth gages, thread gages, pin/plug gages, dial indicators, radius/thread gages, and optical comparators.
  • Apply statistical sampling procedures and AQL-based acceptance sampling plans to determine lot acceptance or rejection.
  • Perform visual and dimensional inspection of plated, coated, and finished parts, including verification of finish, appearance, and coating/plating thickness where specified.
  • Document inspection results, record measured data, and complete inspection reports and receiving records accurately.
  • Identify, tag, segregate, and document nonconforming material; initiate nonconformance reports (NCRs) and support material review board (MRB) and supplier corrective action activities.
  • Verify that inspection, measuring, and test equipment is within calibration prior to use and support the calibration program.
  • Review supplier documentation such as certificates of conformance (C of C), material/test certifications, and first article inspection (FAI) reports.
