About The Position

The Quality Assurance Manager oversees quality assurance policies and processes to ensure the organization delivers the highest quality goods. This position effectively collaborates with members of Quality, Production, Engineering, Maintenance, Sales, Supply Chain, and Research & Development (R&D) to assure food safety systems, deviations, technical investigations, lot releases, and complaints are conducted in a compliant manner, including current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and other applicable regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in science or related field.
  • 8 years of relevant experience within the dietary supplement, food, or pharmaceuticals fields.
  • 6 years of experience or commensurate combination of higher education and work experience in Quality Assurance, process improvement, or related function.
  • 4 years of management/supervisory experience.
  • HACCP and/or PCQI certification.
  • Thorough knowledge of cGMP documentation requirements and Quality systems.
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft Office applications and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Must have organizational and time management skills.
  • Must have ability to collaborate and work well with cross-functional team members, such as Regulatory, Production, Maintenance, etc.
  • Must have strong leadership, organization, presentation, analytical, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Must be able to demonstrate practical problem solving and trouble shooting skills. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field of study.
  • Project management certification.
  • Knowledge of NSF, USP, Non-GMO, Gluten-Free, Organics Programs, and relevant government regulations.
  • Knowledge of 21 CFR 111 and 21 CFR 117.
  • Experience with FDA inspections.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the management of deviations, technical investigations, complaints, release of product, and food safety systems.
  • Manage quality programs involving complaints/adverse events and support timely resolution of complaints and adverse events.
  • Manage the technical review of the company’s sanitation program and systems.
  • Oversee Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), testing methods, documentation, training, qualifications, programs, investigations, finished product lot review/release, compliance, and system optimization related to Quality, complaints, and batch investigations.
  • Maintain strong conceptual understanding of processes, procedures, and scientific concepts practiced in the Quality Laboratory.
  • Define resource requirements, plan and prioritize resources, and manage personnel to ensure optimal functional efficiency and delivery of high-quality work to meet business requirements.
  • Manage and support multiple projects simultaneously, performing all tasks accurately, completely, and appropriately.
  • Lead and identify continuous improvement initiatives to meet company objectives.
  • Contribute to the overall management of client-specific documentation and interface with customers.
  • Support audits, customer visits, Management of Change (MOC), HACCP plan, and monitor/drive key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Oversee staffing, training, professional development, and performance management of Quality personnel.
  • Recommend personnel actions (pay adjustments, promotions, transfers, terminations, etc.).
  • Conduct performance reviews and manage individual performance.
  • Communicate personnel actions following HR and department head approval.
  • Ensure safety and quality standards are enforced and met with a focus on a quality company culture.
  • Partner with human resources to interview/screen potential new hires.
  • Organize training and development opportunities for direct reports.
  • Update processes and procedures.
  • Oversee team and individual employee professional development.
