About The Position

The Quality Assurance Engineer is responsible for safeguarding the reliability and performance of CharacterStrong's digital products by designing and executing rigorous test strategies, identifying and tracking defects, and partnering closely with development teams to continuously improve product quality. This role combines manual and automated testing expertise with strong analytical skills to ensure every release meets CharacterStrong's standards of excellence. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 2-4 years of experience as a QA engineer.
  • Experience with Playwright or other end-to-end testing tools (e.g., Selenium, Cypress).
  • Proficiency with writing automated tests, primarily end-to-end UI tests, a bonus would be unit and integration tests.
  • Working understanding of the technologies used by our development team well enough to communicate effectively with them and write meaningful test cases — including REST APIs, React, HTML/CSS, TypeScript or JavaScript (Node.js), CI pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions), and back-end/database concepts.
  • Familiarity with GitHub, CI/CD pipelines, and Test-Driven Development approaches.
  • Strong knowledge of software QA methodologies, tools, and processes.
  • Experience writing clear, concise, and comprehensive test cases in an Agile/Scrum environment.
  • Hands-on experience with test management software (e.g., Jira, TestRail, or similar).
  • Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL database technologies.
  • Familiarity with AWS services.
  • Familiarity with performance and/or security testing concepts.
  • Attention to detail and an analytical mind.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Commitment to quality and a thorough approach to work.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement test cases for work items each sprint, ensuring they are detailed, comprehensive, and well-structured.
  • Identify, record, track, and report bugs, and analyze test results to recommend improvements to development teams.
  • Work closely with development teams to improve product quality and support efficient, regular deployments.
  • Automate tests using test frameworks, and develop tools to automate QA processes where useful.
  • Ensure compliance with general programming best practices, accepted web standards, and standards set by upstream sources.
  • Perform regression testing when bugs are resolved and conduct post-release/post-implementation testing.
  • Monitor debugging process results.
