About The Position

We are recruiting on behalf of Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) for a Quality Assurance Engineer 4. In this role you will guide the development, implementation, and evaluation of the processes, procedures, and applications that support the Laboratory’s overall objective of maintaining an effective quality program. This is an expert-level position. You will work on unusually significant, unique, or complex issues where the analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangibles, and you will be viewed as an expert in your field within the Laboratory. Work is performed under consultative direction toward predetermined long-range targets, with wide latitude in the methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria used to obtain results.

Requirements

  • BS/MS degree in engineering, quality assurance, industrial systems engineering, or a related field and a minimum of 12 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 12 years of related quality assurance or quality engineering experience, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Broad expertise or unique knowledge in quality assurance sufficient to be regarded as an expert in the field.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop advanced concepts, techniques, and standards based on professional quality principles and theories.
  • Experience resolving complex or unique issues where sound recommendations are critical to organizational objectives.
  • Proven ability to build formal networks and coordinate across groups and key decision makers.
  • Ability to work virtually self-supervised, exercising independent judgment and wide latitude in methods and evaluation criteria.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Post-graduate coursework in engineering, quality assurance, industrial systems engineering, or a related field.
  • Professionally recognized training and certifications in quality-related fields.
  • Prior experience supporting a DOE or NNSA site quality program.

  • Develop advanced concepts, techniques, and standards grounded in recognized professional quality principles and theories.
  • Contribute to the development of program objectives and principles, and achieve goals through creative and effective approaches.
  • Address unusually significant, unique, or complex quality issues and provide highly creative solutions where the analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangibles.
  • Shape the success of future concepts, products, and technologies through technical judgment and recommendations.
  • Create and sustain formal networks that coordinate activity among groups and other key decision makers.
  • Maintain regular working contact with resources both internal and external to the organization.
  • Determine the course of action needed to accomplish objectives, working with independent judgment and on largely self-initiated assignments.
