About The Position

Staffmark is seeking a Quality Assurance Associate to join a leading dairy production facility in Defiance, OH. This role is essential for ensuring the safety, consistency, and quality of all dairy products-including milk, yogurt, smoothies, and ice cream bases. Requirements

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or related field preferred
• 1-3 years of quality or lab experience in dairy, beverage, or food manufacturing environment preferred
• Knowledge of PMO, HACCP, GMP, and sanitation principles
• Familiarity with laboratory methods, data recording, and food safety systems
• Strong attention to detail and effective communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital data logging systems is a plus

Responsibilities

• Perform routine analytical and microbiological testing on raw milk, in-process, and finished products, including butterfat, solids, protein, and pH
• Conduct antibiotic and adulteration screening (e.g., Delvotest, Charm test), standard plate count, coliform, yeast, and mold testing
• Calibrate and maintain lab instruments such as Babcock, Milkoscan, pH meters, incubators, and thermometers
• Verify HTST charts, flow diversion valve function, and recording accuracy
• Conduct sanitation, GMP, and pre-operational inspections before production
• Monitor pasteurization records, verify CIP and sanitation records, collect environmental swabs, and observe production processes for SOP compliance
• Maintain accurate documentation of testing, inspections, and batch records in compliance with FDA, PMO, and SQF standards
• Support HACCP, Food Defense, and SQF programs through verification, data collection, and root cause analysis for non-conforming products
• Assist with audits, product holds, releases, and corrective actions as needed
• Verify packaging and labeling compliance for finished goods prior to shipment
