About The Position

The Quality Assistant will lead and manage continuous process improvement projects for the purpose of optimizing cross-functional and cross-divisional performance using Lean and Six Sigma techniques. This role will oversee and develop quality control programs. The ideal candidate will be familiar with worldwide quality system requirements including GMP’s, ISO 9001, and FSSC/ISO 22000.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Computer literate, must be highly skilled in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Power Point
  • Must be able to read, interpret and analyze general business documents such as technical procedures, government regulations, safety rules and maintenance instructions.
  • Must be able to write reports, procedure manuals and general correspondence.
  • Must be able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and employees.
  • Must be able to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy.
  • Must be able to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, measurement, volume and rate.
  • Ability to determine data needs, then collect, assess, and convert data into useful statistical information using statistical summaries, regression analysis, pareto diagrams, or other statistical tools.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, and talk or hear.
  • Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Superior time management skills including the ability to manage multiple issues concurrently and the ability to lead an effective and efficient meeting
  • Teaching skills in order to function effectively as a teacher for personnel
  • Excellent crisis manager who demonstrates that he/she has a high emotional control under adverse conditions and can lead his/her personnel to a successful resolution
  • Excellent employee relations skills including being an active listener, understanding how to appraise personnel, applying both positive and corrective feedback, being able to resolve conflicts either involving the supervisor directly or as a third party, understands and demonstrates positive motivational skills including coaching and delegation techniques
  • Demonstrated confidence including providing a consistent leadership style with an acceptable level of professional assertiveness

Nice To Haves

  • Post high school education and/or related quality control experience
  • Prior experience in the corrugated box industry
  • May be required to maintain a current Lift Truck Operator License.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee a systematic approach to assuring high quality service and product consistency to the customer base.
  • Retrieve, document and track quality samples with orders.
  • Assist with development, facilitation and maintain necessary procedures, descriptions and related documentation.
  • Monitor quality performance, extract and analyze performance data, publish reports reflecting company performance against goals.
  • Establish and maintain effective 2-way communication channels with key personnel throughout the organization.
  • Recommend process-related design changes and identify opportunities to improve existing procedures, working instructions and related tools to best meet the requirements of an evolving workflow process and product market.
  • Assist with the facilitation of multi-functional teams to identify and focus on core business enhancement opportunities and customer satisfaction.
  • Identify, analyze, collaborate and facilitate solutions to business problems and ensure that corrective and preventative action processes achieve their primary objective of satisfying the customer, reducing cost and increasing efficiency.
  • The Coordinator has complete authority to request corrective action from all employees interfacing within the Quality Management System.
