About The Position

The Quality and Performance Improvement Manager for the Cancer Center manages processes and delivery of transforming data to information used to drive and sustain quality improvements initiatives and demonstrate outcomes of improvement work. This position provides support in continuous quality and performance improvement. This manager manages multiple projects simultaneously, ensures a balanced workload among team members, and serves as a SME for quality and performance improvement methodologies, including but not limited to Lean. This manager works in collaboration with Cancer Center administrative and physician leadership to identify and priorities key quality improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree MPH, MHSA, Nursing, or related field
  • 3 or more years experience in Healthcare Quality or equivalent
  • Advanced computer skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio.
  • Travel between UKHS locations.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficient experience with Excel.
  • Basic to advanced experience with BIS or statistical platforms (Qlik, PowerBI, Tabelau, R, SPSS, SAS).

Nice To Haves

  • 5 or more years experience in Healthcare Quality or equivalent
  • 2 or more years oncology experience
  • Lean Certification, Six Sigma, or equivalent obtained within 2 years
  • Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) - National Association of Healthcare Quality (NAHQ) obtained within 2 years of hire

Responsibilities

  • Manages process and delivery of consolidating, analyzing, and reporting data from a variety of business intelligence solutions and systems for quality assessment and performance improvement initiatives, including but not limited to, translating data to information, providing analytical skills and statistical knowledge to project design, and prioritizing data requests and projects
  • Leads, develops, and manages performance improvement initiatives and identified continuous improvement opportunities by leveraging Lean methodology, as prioritized by director and Cancer Center leadership
  • Manages multiple projects and analyses simultaneously while meeting key deadlines and deliverables and prioritizing time and resources
  • Manage Cancer Center QPI data portfolio and work assignments, ensuring balanced workload and development across the team as appropriate
  • Collaborate with oncology administrative and physician leadership to strengthen and improve performance outcomes, define and improvement quality improvement opportunities, and ensure infrastructure and resources are aligned to meet outcomes
  • Responsible for data collection and reporting requirements and for oversight and coordination of performance measurement and improvement, in addition to, anticipating and planning for future reporting requirements
  • Monitors and produces oncology dashboards on a regular basis and ad hoc basis, with deliverable action plans that reflect evidence based best practices.
  • Responsible for monitoring external climate and crafting metrics for measurement of process health and quality to enable a data-driven quality framework used to inform strategy
  • Develop analyses to help the organization understand and monitor quality performance, break down key drivers, and identify new opportunities
  • Serves as SME for quality and performance improvement methodologies and practices, including training, coaching, and mentoring, as well as collaborates with director to identify educational issues related to quality, and performance improvement designs and implements education plans to meet those opportunities.
  • Assists in education of the providers and frontline staff related to all aspects.
  • Works collaboratively with the Applied Analytics/Business Intelligence, Lean Promotion Office (LPO), HITS, and other internal quality and performance improvement teams
  • Maintains competency and enhances professional growth and development through continuing education, conferences, and seminars.
  • Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.
