Quality and Manufacturing Engineer I

Parker Hannifin•Lewisburg, OH

About The Position

The Quality and Manufacturing Engineer is a hybrid engineering role focused on supporting and improving manufacturing operations through quality performance, continuous improvement, and manufacturing process execution. The role applies engineering principles, structured problem-solving, statistical tools, and lean manufacturing practices to reduce variation, eliminate waste, improve productivity, and sustain compliance. The position leads or supports root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions, process validations, production readiness activities, work instruction development, tooling and equipment improvements, and data-driven improvement initiatives. Responsibilities are divided approximately equally between quality engineering and manufacturing engineering. The role supports safe, efficient, repeatable, and cost-effective production; helps maintain quality management system requirements; and works cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Engineering, Operations, and Maintenance. It also provides technical support and training to production personnel. Parker describes itself as a global leader in motion and control technologies, with a people-first culture emphasizing teamwork, inclusion, growth, and sustainability.

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support root cause analysis, corrective action, and preventive action activities using methods such as 8D, 5 Why, fishbone analysis, fault tree analysis, and DMAIC.
  • Investigate internal and external nonconformances, customer complaints, scrap, rework, and process escapes, and define containment, corrective, and preventive actions.
  • Support implementation and maintenance of quality management system requirements in alignment with applicable standards, customer requirements, and Parker Hannifin procedures.
  • Partner with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Operations to improve process capability, reduce variation, and prevent recurrence of quality issues.
  • Apply statistical methods and quality tools, including SPC, capability analysis, measurement system analysis, Pareto analysis, trend analysis, and risk-based decision making.
  • Lead or participate in continuous improvement projects to reduce waste, improve quality, increase throughput, and enhance operational performance.
  • Promote quality, accountability, and continuous improvement across the manufacturing organization.
  • Develop, improve, and sustain manufacturing processes for safe, efficient, repeatable, and cost-effective production.
  • Create and maintain work instructions, routings, process documentation, standard work, setup sheets, and visual aids.
  • Support production-floor troubleshooting involving process issues, equipment, tooling, assembly, and workflow constraints.
  • Evaluate and improve production methods, layouts, fixtures, tooling, equipment, and material flow to improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
