About The Position

This position is responsible for achieving and safely maintaining optimum process performance and control in the areas of raw material conformance and quality, manufacturing and delivery of sizing to the forming process, ensuring finished products meet or exceed customer expectations, and initiating and participating in plant continuous improvement activities focused on safety, quality, productivity, and cost.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Office products.
  • Working knowledge of Minitab software.
  • Experience with Quality System software.
  • Knowledge and extensive working experience and utilization of statistical process control (SPC) methods and analysis.
  • Bachelor of Science in engineering (mechanical, electrical, chemical, materials) or related field.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt certified and experienced in SPC.
  • Experience managing people, multiple priorities, and projects.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the fiberglass industry.
  • Black Belt Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Achieve and safely maintain optimum process performance and control.
  • Ensure conformance, quality, receipt, and unloading of batch and sizing raw materials.
  • Oversee the manufacture and delivery of sizing to the forming process.
  • Assure finished products meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Initiate and participate in plant continuous improvement activities (safety, quality, productivity, cost).
  • Promote and maintain safety goals and ensure a safe work environment.
  • Lead safety and housekeeping efforts and corrective actions.
  • Stimulate and maintain associate interest in producing highest quality products through training and communication.
  • Lead and manage the plant's quality system by implementing and monitoring quality control procedures and utilizing SPC methods.
  • Promote a prevention-oriented, data-driven quality system and culture by facilitating problem-solving and documentation.
  • Communicate with customers and suppliers regarding product quality reporting and concerns.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction and investigate customer quality complaints, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
  • Participate in joint technical meetings with customers, suppliers, and other facilities.
  • Lead and direct the Quality Lab, including process ownership, documentation, supervision of Quality Technicians, and management of lab equipment and software.
  • Meet and audit raw material suppliers.
  • Lead and direct the process of unloading raw material (truck and rail), including process ownership, documentation, and supervision of Raw Material Specialists.
  • Coordinate with logistics and provide direction for raw material unloading.
  • Manage chemical inventory and sizing mixing processes and personnel.
  • Provide after-hours contact access for abnormal production/quality events.
