About The Position

Join AIR as a Qualitative Research Associate and use your experience and expertise to help advance our mission: generating and applying rigorous evidence to create a better, more equitable world for all. The Qualitative Research Associate will contribute to a range of studies, evaluations, and technical assistance initiatives while supporting organizational growth through business development and proposal efforts. This position will be part of AIR's International Development program, supporting research and technical assistance activities in low- and middle-income countries. The team works closely with major international donors, including the Gates Foundation, the World Bank, the U.S. Department of State, and UNICEF, to design and implement innovative approaches that inform policy and program development. Candidates hired for this position may work remotely within the United States (U.S.) or from one of our U.S. office locations. This does not include U.S. territories. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with 2+ years of experience, or a Master’s degree in the social sciences or related fields.
  • Experience conducting qualitative data collection.
  • Experience using qualitative data analysis software programs (e.g., NVivo, ATLAS.ti, MAXQDA, Dedoose).
  • Experience working in other countries.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in data collection and report writing.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate efficiently in a virtual work environment.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in language(s) other than English.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis. Employment-based visa sponsorship (including H-1B sponsorship) is not available for this position.
  • Depending on project work, qualified candidates may need to meet certain residency requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Assist project teams in compiling and synthesizing information, including conducting literature reviews and policy scans.
  • Prepare and assist with primary data collection activities, including interviews, focus groups, and surveys; organize research materials; and contribute to content development.
  • Participate in the collection, review, and organization of research and evaluation data.
  • Analyze quantitative and qualitative data and contribute to the interpretation and reporting of findings.
  • Prepare documents, report sections, briefs, charts, and graphs that describe and interpret research findings.
  • Support proposal writing and business development activities.
  • Support project management activities, including developing project timelines, coordinating meetings, and tracking project progress.
