About The Position
Thompson was founded in 1886 as an orphanage and has grown into an organization operating across the Carolinas, Florida, Tennessee, and Kentucky. Thompson’s continuum of care encompasses three domains: prevention, mental health services, and foster care. All Thompson programs are trauma-informed and evidence-based/evidence-informed with the intention of building resilience in our clients (ages 0-18) and their families, both virtually and in person. As a Qualified Mental Health Professional in the Family-Centered Treatment (FCT) department, you will work with children and teens who have acute mental health or behavioral challenges.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Human Service or related field and 2 years of relevant professional experience, as well as lived experience, OR Master's degree in Human Service or related field and 1 year of relevant professional experience.
- Must be available during afternoons, evenings, and some weekends.
- Must be able to drive to client homes to complete sessions.
- Must have a valid Driver’s License and meet any credentialing, licensing and privileging standards as it pertains to the department you are in.
- Must pass a drug screening test.
- Must pass an extensive background check.

Responsibilities
- Work with children and teens who have acute mental health or behavioral challenges.
- Attend meetings with families.
- Discuss cases with residential FCT practitioners.
- Complete documentation.
- Participate in an on-call rotation for after-hours, weekends, and holidays.
- Attend a virtual team meeting on Monday afternoon.
- Attend one hour of virtual individual supervision during the week.
- Attend a one-hour skills lab virtually on Fridays.
- Create your own schedule based on family availability, with most families preferring afternoon and evening appointments.
- Be available on some weekends to complete sessions when the youth is home for a visit.
- Provide in-person service when possible.
- Drive to client homes to complete sessions.
