About The Position

The QMHP provides ongoing support, group facilitation, and therapeutic interventions throughout the patient’s course of treatment in the Intensive and Partial Hospital Outpatient Programs. The QMHP is vital to the development and implementation of group skills training, supportive patient interventions as defined in treatment team, patient safety plans, discharge planning, and other programmatic needs that support the success of the patient. The QMHP provides documentation of patient services in the Electronic Medical Record and participates in the ongoing utilization review process acquiring patient authorizations. This role description is a general description of the essential job functions. It is not intended to describe all the duties the Qualified Mental Health Professional may perform.

  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and database applications required.
  • A graduate of a college or university with a bachelor’s degree in a field other than human services and has four years of full-time, post-bachelor’s degree accumulated mh/dd/sa experience with the population served, or a substance abuse professional who has four years of full-time, post-bachelor’s degree accumulated supervised experience in alcohol and drug abuse counseling.
  • Regular attendance on-site is an essential function of this position.
  • Typical business hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (or flexed to best meet the needs of the clients and/or the Division); 40 hours per workweek; weekend, holiday, or evening coverage is occasionally required.
  • Work hours will need to be flexible in order to respond to special work assignments, or evening activities, as requested by the team leader.

Responsibilities

  • Support patient in completing patient measures, orientation, and ongoing crisis safety planning throughout course of treatment.
  • Participate in the behavioral treatment plan development of patient goals and ongoing reviews as indicated by patient and physician, overseen by program supervisor.
  • Attend treatment team to provide QMHP perspective, treatment planning, and team interventions specific to patient needs.
  • Provide educational interventions and supportive counseling within group settings while managing a therapeutic milieu, appropriate for adult population.
  • Implement interventions as clinically appropriate to support the patient throughout duration of program.
  • Provide ongoing supportive counseling and/or other recovery-oriented services as needed throughout the course of patient treatment.
  • Ensure patient’s aftercare needs are met by development and coordination of discharge planning.
  • Participate in ongoing utilization review tasks as needed in authorization of services.
  • Documentation of services in patient Electronic Medical Record.
  • Other program-oriented tasks will be required as needed such as ordering supplies, completing daily attendance sheets, etc.
