The Qualified Medication Aide (QMA) is responsible for providing medication administration, daily care, health needs, safety, and comfort of the residents. This role involves administering and documenting oral medications, eye medications, topical medications, suppository medications, ear drops, and all others as ordered by the physician. The QMA will also perform treatments on minor skin conditions per physician orders, maintain a locked medication cart and medication keys according to facility policy, and check catheters frequently, providing catheter care as assigned by the nurse. Documentation of all medications and treatments given in the medication record and nurses notes is crucial, as is maintaining the confidentiality of all residents and their care to ensure residents' rights and privacy are protected at all times. Other duties as assigned by the staff nurse or designee are also part of this role.
