About The Position

The QMHP / Veteran Navigator works independently to provide Veteran outreach, care coordination, benefits and resource navigation, and referral follow-up through the Staff Sergeant Parker Gordon Fox Suicide Prevention Grant Program. The position helps participants identify needs and goals, connects them with VA healthcare and community supports, and follows up to address barriers to services. Responsibilities include completing assigned screenings after training, assisting with recovery and safety planning within the role, maintaining timely service documentation, and collecting required participant data. The navigator collaborates with the program coordinator, peer specialist, Military Veteran Peer Network (MVPN), Veteran Service Officers, and community partners on outreach and resource events. Regional travel and occasional adjusted hours for outreach and events are required. This is a full-time, grant-funded position through September 29, 2027.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in a qualified human services field, including psychology, social work, counseling, sociology, human development, gerontology, educational psychology, special education, nursing, or medicine.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
  • Personal automobile liability insurance as required by the state of Texas.
  • Working computer skills, including Microsoft Office.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in one of the qualified human services fields noted above.
  • Two years of related work experience in a mental health setting.
  • Knowledge of psychotropic medications and DSM-5.
  • Bilingual skills (English/Spanish).
  • Veteran preferred.
