About The Position

The QC Technician Inspector is responsible for monitoring quality control on a food production line. This role involves performing various tests and verifications of equipment, product, packaging, and coding parameters according to Standard Operating Procedures and product specifications. The inspector must communicate any arising problems to appropriate staff and management, record problem/solution details, and check paperwork for accuracy. Key duties include verifying ingredients, checking seals, date codes, and temperatures hourly, and ensuring the metal detector functions correctly. Adherence to all employee safety, food safety, quality procedures, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) is mandatory. The role also requires calibrating and cleaning instrumentation, flexibility to work any shift and weekends, and wearing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). The inspector is expected to demonstrate leadership and ownership, ensure packaged products meet quality specifications, and work both independently and collaboratively with team members. Completing production paperwork neatly and professionally, strictly adhering to safety policies, and committing to food safety and quality requirements are also essential. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Any combination of experience and education that provides the required knowledge, such as: BS/BA degree in Biology, Chemistry, Food Science/Food Technology or related field
  • 4 years' experience in a production or manufacturing environment
  • Must possess the knowledge and understanding of basic math skills including weight calculations, averages and percentages.
  • Must be able to read and write in English.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor quality control on a food production line
  • Perform all testing and verification of equipment, product, packaging, and coding parameters as required by Standard Operating Procedures, and according to the specifications for the specific product being manufactured.
  • Communicate to appropriate production staff, maintenance staff, or management when problems arise.
  • Record problem and solution on appropriate forms.
  • Check paperwork for accuracy.
  • Verify ingredients staged for production are correct per the recipe requirements.
  • Check seals, date codes, and temperatures every hour and verify metal detector to ensure good results.
  • Follow all employee safety, food safety, and quality procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's).
  • Calibrate and clean instrumentations to ensure results are correct.
  • Wear all required PPE as required such as protective gloves, aprons, and safety glasses.
  • Ensure that packaged product meets all quality specifications.
  • Complete all required production paperwork as required in a neat and professionally manner.
  • Strictly adhere to all safety policies.
