About The Position

Heidelberg Materials is one of the world's largest suppliers of building materials. Heidelberg Materials North America operates over 450 locations across the U.S. and Canada with approximately 9,000 employees. This role involves collecting aggregate samples and performing field and laboratory testing to ensure products meet quality standards, regulatory requirements, and customer specifications. The position also requires analyzing, documenting, and communicating test results while maintaining accurate records and supporting production teams in resolving quality-related issues. Additionally, the QC Tech I will conduct quality inspections of production, stockpiles, shipping, and depot materials, including onsite sampling and troubleshooting when quality concerns arise. Collaboration with operations, sales, customers, and contractors is key, as is providing technical product support, investigating quality concerns, and communicating testing results. The role also supports continuous improvement initiatives through research, product development, process optimization, and identifying opportunities to enhance product quality. Maintaining laboratory equipment, testing instruments, and safe work practices while following established quality control procedures and site safety standards is also a responsibility.

Requirements

  • Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Materials Technology, Construction Materials, or a related field preferred, with one to two years of experience in aggregate, mining, construction materials, or quality control environments.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with excellent attention to detail and the ability to follow established testing procedures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive working relationships across operations, production, customers, and contractors.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and possess a valid Class 5 Driver's License.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with CSA and ASTM testing methods and experience performing laboratory or field testing of construction materials is considered an asset.

Responsibilities
