About The Position

The QC Team Leader is a hands-on leadership role responsible for coordinating daily quality control activities while actively participating in inspection and measurement processes. This position ensures efficient job flow, accurate job order processing, and adherence to quality standards within a high-precision manufacturing environment. The QC Team Leader will provide direct leadership and support to a team of Inspectors, Gage Calibration Technicians, and CMM Operators/Programmers, ensuring work is completed accurately, on time, and in compliance with customer and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of blueprint reading and GD&T
  • Experience with CMM operation and/or programming (PC-DMIS, Calypso, or similar)
  • Familiarity with gage calibration processes and tracking systems
  • Proficiency with inspection tools (micrometers, calipers, height gages, etc.)
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems and quality documentation
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 5+ years of experience in quality control within a manufacturing environment (aerospace/defense preferred)
  • 2+ years of leadership or lead experience strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead, direct, and support a team of QC Inspectors, Gage Calibration Technicians, and CMM Operators/Programmers.
  • Serve as a working leader by actively participating in inspection and measurement activities as needed.
  • Assign daily tasks and prioritize workload to meet production schedules and customer deadlines.
  • Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to team members.
  • Monitor team performance and address production issues in real-time.
  • Coordinate incoming and in-process inspection jobs to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Review and process job orders, routers, and inspection documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Ensure proper allocation of resources (personnel, equipment, and time) across all QC functions.
  • Act as the primary point of contact between QC and Production, Engineering, and Customer Service.
  • Perform and support first article, in-process, and final inspections as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with customer specifications, blueprints, and quality standards.
  • Review inspection reports and documentation for accuracy prior to release.
  • Assist in root cause analysis and corrective action activities.
  • Support and guide CMM Operators/Programmers in setup, programming, and execution.
  • Ensure proper use and maintenance of inspection equipment and software.
  • Troubleshoot measurement or programming issues as they arise.
  • Oversee gage calibration activities and ensure compliance with internal and external standards.
  • Maintain calibration schedules and ensure all equipment remains within certification.
  • Ensure accurate tracking within gage management systems.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and workflow within QC operations.
  • Support implementation of process improvements and best practices.
  • Promote a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
