About The Position

Fareva Richmond is currently seeking an experienced QC Specialist I - Metrology to join our team in Richmond, VA. This role involves performing routine calibrations, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of Quality Operations Laboratory equipment/instruments to ensure they remain in a functional and operational state. The position also includes completing Qualification/Verification tasks for new Laboratory Equipment/Instruments per the Calibration Program Procedures and applicable site procedures, and executing environmental mapping studies for the site Controlled Temperature Units (CTUs) to maintain compliance. A key responsibility is reviewing calibrations completed both in-house and by outside vendors/contractors for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable SOP’s.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of relevant Quality experience, understanding of calibration techniques and principles.
  • Ability to troubleshoot instrument related issues.
  • Requires basic knowledge of fundamental quality concepts.
  • Knowledgeable of practical application of calibration techniques used to calibrate instruments– such as HPLC, Gas & Liquid Chromatography, UV/VIS, IR, Balances…. Etc.
  • Basic use of computer systems applications used to operate instruments and data acquisitions (Empower, Labware).
  • Ability to shift priorities to meet business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Perform verification/qualifications, calibrations, maintenance of laboratory equipment/instruments to maintain a current qualified status.
  • Identify and troubleshoot equipment/instruments problems during routine calibrations and take appropriate steps to correct the problem.
  • Participate in reviewing completed calibrations performed by peers and outside vendors/contractors assuring compliance in accordance to cGMP’s and site SOP’s.
  • Contact outside service providers to send laboratory instruments/equipment off-site for re-certification, repair and to assist with troubleshooting issues when applicable.
  • Coordinate the schedule for the calibration of laboratory equipment with service providers with laboratory personnel to minimize downtime.
  • Maintain required documentation of instruments verification/qualification, calibrations, and maintenance records.
  • Achieves full familiarity with Calibration Management Software.
  • Initiates events, purchase requisitions, etc. in SAP system when applicable.
  • Write, revise and review Calibration procedures as needed to support the Metrology Group.
  • Provide training on new procedures when applicable.
  • Maintains training curriculum and required courses as needed within the training system.
  • Complete Mapping study of site Controlled Temperature Units.
