About The Position

The QC Line Inspector is responsible for ensuring product quality meets customer standards. This role involves monitoring and recording product weights, checking color, odor, and texture, verifying seal integrity through burst testing, and performing quality checks on product code and fill temperature. The inspector will also conduct complete tear downs for each seamer head. This position requires notifying the supervisor of any out-of-specification measurements after rechecking, completing required documentation, and inputting data into the Quality control computer. The role also emphasizes teamwork, participation in team meetings, and fostering cohesiveness within the team. The inspector must be familiar with Simmons' operating systems and their role in supporting them, understanding the impact of individual actions and communicating concerns or improvement ideas. This position description is intended to guide activities and is not exhaustive. The employee will be required to sit, stand, and walk.

Requirements

  • Experienced within a manufacturing/process environment with knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Background in manufacturing.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

  • Some college and/or Tech School.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the quality of the product is up to customer standards, including: Product weights to be monitored and recorded.
  • Checking color, odor and texture.
  • Checking seal integrity and performing burst testing.
  • Product code, fill temperature, and quality checks.
  • Complete tear downs for each seamer head on the running seamer.
  • Notify supervisor of any out of specification measurements after recheck is confirmed.
  • Fill out documentation as required.
  • Record information on the Quality log sheets & input all data in the Quality control computer at the QC station for further review.
  • Participates as a member of the team.
  • Participates in ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies; coordinates work to ensure best practices with all team members.
  • Attends appropriate team meetings.
  • As a member of the team, fosters strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues; e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc.
  • Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and works with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues and actively look for ways, and reinforce actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization.
  • Is familiar with Simmons' established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies); understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position's role in support of these systems - including a consideration of the impact of individual actions on the systems and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas.
  • Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
