About The Position

The Quality Control Lab Technician is responsible for conducting continuous testing and inspection procedures throughout the manufacturing process to ensure all products comply with strict quality and food safety standards. This role spans the entire production cycle—from inspecting incoming raw ingredients and packaging, to testing in-process and finished goods, to analyzing developmental trial products. The ideal candidate will evaluate test data, enforce safety compliance, and proactively identify quality issues or opportunities for process improvement.

Requirements

  • Associate degree preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a Quality Control Laboratory Technician role.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in the food manufacturing industry.
  • Minimum 2 years of quality auditing experience.
  • Strong background in food quality control, food safety programs, and statistical analysis preferred.
  • Familiarity with BRC, HACCP, and GMP guidelines.
  • Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in both English and Spanish.
  • Strong mathematical skills, active listening, critical thinking, and familiarity with units of weight and heat measurement.
  • High attention to detail, strong observation skills, and proactive problem-solving abilities.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for the duration of a shift (up to 12 hours).
  • Frequently requires sitting, bending, twisting, climbing stairs, and performing repetitive hand movements/manipulation.
  • Must be able to periodically lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Requires working around hazardous equipment with proper safety protocols.
  • Must be flexible and willing to work overtime and weekend days as needed.

  • Strong background in food quality control, food safety programs, and statistical analysis preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform standard laboratory testing procedures, including measuring Brix, pH, acid content, weight, and volume.
  • Conduct organoleptic evaluations (evaluating odor, color, flavor, and appearance).
  • Safely handle, mix, and utilize chemical reagents; must be capable of accurately detecting color changes during chemical reactions.
  • Promptly notify supervision when product or ingredient specifications are not met.
  • Monitor laboratory chemical and supply inventory and alert supervision when supplies are low.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs immediately to management.
  • Enforce and strictly adhere to BRC, HACCP, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and Cross-Contamination Prevention Programs at all times.
  • Continuously audit production lines for compliance with GMPs and quality standards during downtime between scheduled tests.
  • Identify and report any GMP violations or safety hazards to leadership.
  • Maintain complete, accurate, and properly corrected quality assurance documentation and paperwork.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized laboratory work environment.
  • Actively prepare for and participate in scheduled production line changes.
  • Proactively communicate schedule delays, line issues, or operational roadblocks to the supervisor.
  • Train new technicians and assist with inspection plan preparation or quality cost evaluations as assigned.
  • Perform additional tasks as directed by QA Leads or Management.
